EVP, Television Distribution & Content Strategy | Sony Pictures Television
Mike Wald is Executive Vice President of Television Distribution and Content strategy for Sony Pictures Television (SPT). Based in Los Angeles, he oversees the sales strategy and marketing of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s (SPE) feature films and TV series to international free television, basic cable, subscription pay television and new media platforms, looks at global opportunities and content partnerships. He reports to Keith Le Goy, president, worldwide television for SPT.
Most recently, Wald headed up distribution across Asia Pacific and before that was based in London and served as Executive Vice President of International distribution across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for SPT.
Prior to that, Wald served as the Director, corporate development for SPT, both in Culver City and in SPT’s Hong Kong office, from 1994 to 1998, where he focused on the emerging entertainment markets in Asia. He cultivated relationships with potential partners for future investments in television and feature film productions, as well as many other entertainment and new media ventures. Wald also worked as part of the team that successfully developed and launched the AXN channel in Asia and SET India.
Before joining SPT, Wald was the senior financial analyst for Mattel Toys in El Segundo, CA, from 1993 to 1994, where he performed the operational and financial audits of their international marketing and manufacturing affiliates. From 1988 to 1991, Wald held the position of assistant vice president at City National Bank in Beverly Hills, CA, managing one of the bank’s four business analysis teams.
Wald graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and has an MBA in finance/marketing from USC.
