Associate Producer | Fandango
In 2005 Laura Buffoni graduates as PHD researcher in Films at the University of Roma Tre. After the graduation Laura started collaborating with Fandango where she held a leading position in documentary and film acquisitions. Recently, she has worked in project development for films and TV production. Currently she is associate producer for the Netflix Series Luna Nera.
Among other activities, she has been a film critic and artistic advisor at the Bellaria Film Festival. She has been a film selector for the Extra Section at the Rome Film Festival and at the international festival competition. Currently, she is a part of the scientific committee at the Pesaro New Film Festival.
She is author of a series of critic essays about the Italian cinema (Olmi, Taviani, Comencini, Bellocchio, etc…). Her works include the monographic volume Peter Whitehead – Cinema Musica Rivoluzione, along with Cristina Piccino, published by Derive e Approdi, Rome, 2008. Also, the collective volume Romanzo Popolare – Narrazione, pubblico e storie del cinemA italiano negli anni duemila “, alongside with Pedro Armocida., published by Marsilio, 2016. Recently, for Marsilio, she has recently edited “We Want Cinema – Sguardi di donne nel cinema italiano” . She is author of the documentary, “ Ferrante Fever “(2017), directed by Giacomo Durzi and produced for Rai Cinema and Sky Arte and finalist at the Nastri d’argento as best documentary. In 2018, together with Simone Gattoni and Michael Weber, she founded the production company , “Similar Films “ based in Rome. The company has produced the film, “Tommaso” by Abel Ferrara, with Willem Dafoe, which was presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2019 in the ‘Out of Competition’ section.
