Company Director and Producer | Element Pictures

BAFTA-winning Oscar nominated producer Ed Guiney co-founded award-winning international production company Element Pictures with Andrew Lowe in 2001, which has offices in Dublin, London and Belfast, working across production, distribution, and exhibition. As joint Company Director of Element Pictures Ed oversees the development of the company’s film and television slate and produces, or oversees the production, of all green-lit projects.

Through Element Pictures, Ed has spearheaded the production of several critically acclaimed films. Most recently Yorgos Lanthimos’ first English-language film, The Lobster, staring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, Room, directed by Lenny Abrahamson and starring Brie Larson, and recently The Favourite, also directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Oliva Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone. His work across these films saw Guiney nominated twice for Best Picture at the Academy Awards for Room and The Favourite, He has also won two BAFTAS for Omagh and The Favourite.

Ed is currently executive producing Normal People, the highly anticipated TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s international literary phenomenon, for BBC Three and Hulu, and Dublin Murders for BBC and Starz.
